A Common Question : Can you tell me the active ingredient in your quilt washing products. ?

I deport ii washing products: the All American Quilt Launder and Restoration.
The manufacturer keeps the ingredients clandestine on the Restoration.  Merely, there seems to be some sort of mild oxygenation, because I meet some bubbles when I use it, and it is not recommended for wool or silk, like many Oxy products.

In the plainest, about elementary language, various forms of Soda Ash.  It changes the pH of the h2o and makes information technology easier for dirt to break costless of fibers.  And It is enviornmentally friendly.

"Whiting & Davis"

Think of antique purses and one of the names that might pop into your caput is Whiting & Davis.  Whiting and Davis are still in business today, making armor mesh purses, which may well exist the collectible of the future.  The company was originally a jewelry business organisation founded past William Wade and Edward Davis.  Charles Whiting worked for the company as a sales representative and in 1896, while still a very swain, purchased the company, changed the name to Whiting & Davis, and started manufacturing the mesh bag.  These mesh bags were originally hand assembled by local housewives.  Only in 1912, an automated mesh machine was patented, and the mesh bag could be produced faster, and more economically, resulting in an explosion in popularity in the 1920s.

Their mesh purses were made of Sterling Silverish, silver plate, German Silver (which is really Nickel) and a 14 or 18 karat gold, as well as enamel.  Some mesh can be described as baby mesh or fine mesh.  This mesh has a soft and light feel, despite being metal.

Gold Tone Baby Fine Mesh Purse

Enamel bags were created and designs could be achieved that were not possible with the silver mesh.  Beautiful detailed floral motifs, figural designs, and architectural elements were depicted, with frame varying from the simply embossed to the heavily jewel encrusted.

In the 1920s, a colorful silvery mesh bag was introduced, called the Dresden purse.  And they developed several specialty blazon bags that are loftier collectible today like the El Sah bag, gate top bags.

Gate Top Purse

Whitings grandson, Charles Whiting Rice started working for the company in 1938, and became vice president  upon his grandfathersouthward death 1940.  He introduced a new style of mesh bag called Alumesh, just before World War Ii.  Information technology was white and the frames were ordinarily made of plastic.  Rice became president of the company in 1960, only retired in 1966 when the visitor was sold to Certified Pharmaceuticals.

Ithink the reason these purses were then pop was the visitors aggressive advertizement.  Pages of purse designs could be found in bug of Delineator, Ladies Dwelling house Periodical, Harperdue south, Vogue, and more than.  Within these ads they promoted customer service, offering to repair and polish the Whiting and

handbag you already owned.  Ladies knew a skilful bargain when they saw it, even back then!

Today, these antique beauties are not just collectible, but extremely functional.  While I would not recommend them for every day use, they are a wonderful delicate vintage touch to a formal even out or special occasion.

If you would like to larn more about antiquarian purses, I highly recommend Lynell Schwartz'due south "Purse Masterpieces".
